2021 GHANA ARMED FORCES ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR NURSING AND MIDWIFERY

The Ghana Armed Forces have published the entry requirement for Nursing and Midwifery together with other medical categories in the daily graphic on Saturday, January 24, 2021. Below are the requirements.

GENERAL ELIGIBILITY

Eligible applicants should:

  1. Be a Ghanaian citizen by birth.
  2. Be of good character.
  3. Not less than 20 years and not more than 26 years by 6th June 2021, for Regular Commission and not more than 30 years by Thursday 2nd May 2021, for Short Service Commission.
  4. Be medically fit by Ghana Armed Forces Standards.
  5. Not Bonded.
  6. Not married (for Regular Officer Candidates only).
  7. Be of a minimum height of 1.68m (5’6”) for males and 1.60m (5’4”) for females.

In addition to the general eligibility, nursing and midwifery applicants must have a degree from an accredited institution plus a relevant postgraduate qualification.

NURSING TUTORS

Applicants must have either MPhil in Nursing/Midwifery or MSc/MA in Nursing/Midwifery with a postgraduate certificate in Education and must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana. Applicants must be in good standing, with at least one (1) year teaching experience post permanent registration in an accredited Nursing/Midwifery institution.  Applicants must not be more than 35 years by 2nd May 2021.

SPECIALIZED NURSES

Applicants must have a BSc degree in any of the following specialties: Critical Care, ENT, Peri-operative, Emergency Care, Plastics and Burns, Paediatrics, Ophthalmic Nursing, Nephrology Nursing, and other specialties with at least one (1) year working experience post-permanent registration in a recognized health facility. Applicants must be in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana. Applicants must not be more than 33 years by 2nd May 2021.

MIDWIFERY OFFICERS

Applicants must have either a:

BSc degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution with at least two years practice post-permanent registration.

Or

BSc degree in Midwifery from an accredited institution and a Diploma in Midwifery (RM) with at least one (1) year practice post-permanent registration. Applicants must be in good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana.

GHANA, GRENADA SIGN NURSE RECRUITMENT DEAL – APPLICATIONS OPEN OCT 24-28, 2025

GHANA, GRENADA SIGN NURSE RECRUITMENT DEAL

The Government of Ghana has signed an agreement with the Government of Grenada for the recruitment of nurses. Applications are sought from experienced, dynamic and committed individuals for a challenging yet highly rewarding professional opportunity in Grenada.

The following specialties are needed:

  • Critical Care Nurses 
  • Accident and Emergency Nurses
  • Public Health Nurses
  • General Nurses 

QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES

(i) The Applicant should meet the regulatory requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana,

(ii) Applicants should have at least five (5) years working experience.

APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

  1. Each Applicant is required to provide the following:
  2. Original two (2) Photocopies of nursing academic certificate
  3. Original two (2) Photocopies of certificate of good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
  4. Current and Previous appointment
  5. Original two (2) Photocopies of certificate of criminal record from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service covering the immediate past six (6) months,
  6. Original two (2) Photocopies of certificate of change of name where applicable,
  7. Original two (2) Photocopies immunization certificate,
  8. Original two (2) Photocopies of the Birth Certificate,
  9. Two (2) copies of an up-to-date curriculum vitae,
  10. Two (2) reference letters dated within the last six (6) months,
  11. An endorsed recent passport size photograph with white background,
  12. Biodata page of passport with two (2) years validity,
  13. Application Form,
  14. Any other relevant document.

APPLICATION PROCESS:

Application starts from Friday, 24th  October 2025  and ends on Tuesday, 28th  October 2025.  Applicants are to apply through the Ministry of Health’s Recruitment Portal, https://hr.moh.gov.gh or email : mohhrhd@moh.gov.gh

Candidates are required to submit all the necessary documents including certified copies of qualifications and professional registration on the day of the scheduled interview. Unsuitable applications will not be acknowledged

Scotland NHS Recruiting International Nurses

NHS Highland has announced that they are seeking experienced international nurses for a permanent position at Caithness General Hospital in Wick.

The role is within the Rosebank Ward, which is described as a busy acute admission ward featuring a three-bedded high dependency unit. This position is specifically for international nurses who are required to sit and pass their OSCE exam to obtain full NMC registration. Note that this post is not open to candidates who already hold full NMC registration.

The NHS Highland as part of this exciting opportunity we will support you through a fully funded in-house, person-centred education programme to prepare for your NMC Test of Competence Part 2 (OSCE) exam and obtain your full UK NMC registration. A preparatory OSCE Education Programme will be delivered by the North of Scotland International Recruitment team in collaboration with NHS Highland.

Candidates are required to have successfully undertaken the Test of Competence Part 1 (CBT) and must meet the necessary English language requirements for their NMC application. It was also specified that applicants must have twelve months of validity remaining on both of these certificates.

Successful candidates will begin as a Band 4 Pre-Registration (International) Nurse and will then progress to a Band 5 Registered Nurse upon obtaining their registration. Interested candidates can apply here.

Ministry of Health Postpones Media Engagement on Unpaid Salaries

The Ministry of Health has postponed its planned Media Engagement on “Unpaid Salaries and Other Related Human Resource Issues.” The session, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, 8th October 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Ministry of Health, Ridge, will no longer take place as planned.

In a notice shared on social media, the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit informed all media houses and stakeholders that the engagement has been postponed until further notice. The Ministry added that a new date will be communicated in due course and sincerely regrets any inconvenience the change may cause.
