Nurse Appointed to Board of Ho Teaching Hospital

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) is celebrating one of its own after Courage Arnold Yao Foli Kwame-Kumah was sworn in as a member of the Board of the Ho Teaching Hospital (HTH). In his new role he will help shape the hospital’s strategic direction and provide governance oversight as HTH pursues its mandate of delivering high-quality clinical care, medical education and research.
A paediatric nurse specialist and member of the Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives, Mr Kwame-Kumah brings extensive professional and union leadership experience to the board. His GRNMA résumé includes:
- Regional Chairman and Council Member
- National Chair, General Nurses Group (GNG)
- Former District Chairman and Acting District Secretary, Volta Region
- Former National Secretary, Ghana Nurse and Midwife Trainees’ Association (GNMTA)
- Convener, Junior Nurses and Midwives Association

I am equally grateful to H.E John Dramani Mahama for the confidence reposed in me, I big thank you to the Minister of Health Hon. Akandoh, Volta Regional Minister Hon. James Gunu, the Deputy CEO NHIA Dr Dzokoto and all who played diverse roles both known and unknown.
I wish it was on the quite but your messages here reminds me of the responsibility ahead. Together with very experienced and seasoned Senior colleagues and mentors we will play our part.

The association welcomed the appointment, noting that it underscores the growing recognition of nurses and midwives as key contributors to health-sector governance.
Mr Kwame-Kumah’s tenure is expected to strengthen collaboration between frontline professionals and hospital management, ultimately advancing patient care across the Volta Region and beyond.
