GRNMA Youth Committee launches 2025 International Youth Day celebration

The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) Youth Committee has announced the official launch of the 2025 International Youth Day celebration. According to a statement posted on the GRNMA’s website, the committee has planned a Youth Boot Camp that will bring together ten representatives from each of Ghana’s ten administrative regions to engage in an edutainment programme. The initiative aims to nurture leadership skills, foster collaboration and give young nurses and midwives a platform to network and share experiences.

In addition to regional delegates, the boot camp will welcome participants from several affiliate groups, including the Rotational Nurses and Midwives Association, Ghana Nurses and Midwives Trainees Association, the Unemployed Nurses and Midwives Group and the University Nurses and Midwives Association of Ghana. By bringing these organisations together, the GRNMA hopes to build a stronger pipeline of young leaders and ensure that the voices of nursing and midwifery trainees are represented in policy discussions. The association’s slogan for the camp – ‘Ready to be mentored, prepared to lead’ – underscores the emphasis on mentorship and leadership development.

The launch of this year’s International Youth Day celebration carries the theme ‘Empowering the Youth for a Sustainable Future’. Organisers say the event will be held on 12 August 2025 at 10:00 AM GMT at the GRNMA national secretariat in Shiashie, Accra. Participants will take part in workshops and interactive sessions designed to build practical skills for community leadership and advocacy. The choice of theme reflects a growing recognition that Ghana’s young nurses and midwives must be empowered to drive sustainable health initiatives in their communities.

Organisers are encouraging the public and the nursing fraternity to support the event. Hashtags such as #GRNMA and #YBC2025 have been promoted to create online buzz and to celebrate the commitment of Ghana’s nursing youth. By investing in young professionals, the GRNMA hopes to reinforce the professional identity of nurses and midwives, ensure leadership succession and ultimately improve health outcomes across the country.
