CHAG TO PUNISH NURSES AND MIDWIVES WHO JOINED STRIKE?

In a letter circulating online, the Deputy Executive Director of the Christian Health Association of Ghana (CHAG), has requested list of staff nurses who engaged in the recent strike.

The decision follows an executive briefing with Facility Heads held on the 30th of June 2025. The letter requests health facilities submit names of nurses and midwives who participated in the recent strike by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA). The letter demand facilities to submit full names, grade, staff id and facility names to the human resource department of  the Christian Health Association by Friday, July 4th 2025. The letter however does not state what the association will be doing with such information.

It is believed that staff of the Christian Health Association of Ghana are prohibited from partaking in any form of strike. The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association is yet to respond to the letter. Some nurses believes this is a violation of their human right.

DISCLAIMER: CHAG has not confirmed ownership of the letter circulating.
