GRNMA PRESIDENT ELECTED AFRICAN REPRESENTATIVE FOR ICN BOARD

The president of the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), Mrs Perpetual Ofori Ampofo has been elected Africa Region Representative to the Board of the International Council of Nurses (ICN).

The election took place at the International Council of Nurses Congress 2025 in Helsinki, Finland. This year’s congress with theme, “Nursing power to change the world” gathered over 7000 nurses from all over the world.

At the heart of this discourse lies our collective commitment to achieving Universal Health Coverage and driving forward the global health policy agenda. – ICN

Mrs Ofori-Ampofo is a registered nurse, nurse educator and public-health practitioner with 26 years of experience in Ghana’s healthcare system. Mrs Ofori-Ampofo has been in various leadership roles including:

  • President, GRNMA (incumbent)
  • Member Secretary, Health Sector Occupational Pension Scheme (HSOPS)
  • Member, 3rd & 4th Governing Councils, Ghana College of Nurses and Midwives (GCNM)
  • Member, 14th & 15th Governing Boards, Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana
  • Former Chair, West African Health Sector Unions Network (WAHSUN)

As the newly elected Africa representative on the ICN Board of Directors, she brings on board her integrity, a bold vision and strong advocacy to strengthen National Nursing Associations on the African continent, improve health systems, empower the nursing and midwifery workforce and give nursing and midwifery a voice on the African continent. – GRNMA
