HOW GRNMA DEDUCTIONS ARE USED (BENEFITS FOR MEMBERS)
The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) is a Professional Association for the various categories of Nurses in Ghana. Membership of GRNMA is open to all nurses/midwives in Ghana registered or enrolled by the Nursing and Midwifery Council, Ghana. Membership is acquired and maintained through registration and payment of monthly and other dues instituted by the GRNMA. Life membership of the Association is open to retired or disabled and maimed nurses who can never return to active service, upon payment of a prescribed fee.
The GRNMA has three main deductions that are used for various purposes and benefits for members.
NURSES DUES
This is 2% of a member’s basic salary (Single Spine Salary without the allowance and or the premium)
DISBURSEMENT/BENEFITS
- 6% of monthly total dues goes into GRNMA health Fund. This seeks to address the health needs (cost) of ailments that fall outside the remit of Health insurance for members.
- Payment of retirement stipend/ benefit to members at rates determined by Congress/Conference from time to time.
- Payment of Death benefit of Active and life members at a rate determined by Congress/Conference
- Payment of spousal Death benefit to Members at a rate determined by Congress/Conference
- Payment of consultancy fees during salary Negotiations for Members.
- Payment of Salaries of the Association’s lawyer to fight for members in legal suits during Professional practice.
- Payment of quarterly Quotas to all the 17specialized groups under GRMNA to run their activities.
- Payment of quarterly District and Regional Quotas to man the District and Regions respectively.
- Payment of salaries of Secretariat workers of GRNMA
- Running of the National Secretariat.
- Funding of yearly International Nurses and Midwives’ week Celebrations.
- Funding of yearly Best Nurse/Midwives Award (one member from each Region)
- Funding of biennial Memorial Lecture of Dr. Dorcia Kissei.
- Funding of Delegate Conference/Congresses.
- Procurement and free distribution of souvenirs for all members every year.
- Payment of yearly international and affiliation dues (Public Service International (PSI), International Council of Nurses (ICN), International Council of Midwives (ICM), Commonwealth Federation of Nurses and Midwives (CFNM), West African Health Sector Union Network (WAHSUN).
- Funding of Regional and District tours by National Executives.
- Funding of Association representatives in Conferences locally and internationally as mandated by the Constitution of GRNMA.
- Quarterly stipend to Officials of the Association (National, Regional and District) as determined by Conference/Congress.
- Financial Support to Members in distress situations (Armed robbery, Fires, Accidents etc.)
- Financial support to Specialized groups during AGM’s.
BUILDING LEVY
Members pay twenty Ghana cedis (GH₵ 20) towards the building of the Regional Secretariat and Hostel projects. Ten Regional Secretariats and hostels are being constructed to serve as Office space for the Association and a temporary place of abode for members at discounted prices.
Seven (7) have been completed, and operational, 2 are completed and fully furnished pending inauguration for use, while 1 is yet to be furnished. There’s also an ongoing seven-storey project at the headquarters.
BENEFITS OF BUILDING PROJECTS
- To serve as Office space for members where members can tender in a request for claims due to them.
- Members are entitled to a discount e.g. At Zoti Korle-Bu hostel public rate-225 Ghc per night members rate 60 per night. Facilities (Self-contained, air-conditioning, Fridge, TV Queen Size bed with breakfast). Koforidua Public rate-120 and 100, members rate 60 and 50 ghc same facilities as Zoti and breakfast for two.
- Proceeds from the hostels are accounted for every Quarter at both National and Regional Council meetings and invested for the Association and plowed back into Membership benefits. Hostels are annually audited by National.
NURSES FUND
The Nurses Fund is to enhance the retirement income of Contributors. Each member contributes fifty Ghana Cedis (50 Ghc) a month. This is transferred into an individual’s personal account with the Scheme Administrators as a provident fund by Controller and Accountant General’s Department. The association does not receive any amount from this contribution.
BENEFITS
100% contribution plus accrued interest is due to a member on retirement or Death.

GHANA, GRENADA SIGN NURSE RECRUITMENT DEAL – APPLICATIONS OPEN OCT 24-28, 2025
The Government of Ghana has signed an agreement with the Government of Grenada for the recruitment of nurses. Applications are sought from experienced, dynamic and committed individuals for a challenging yet highly rewarding professional opportunity in Grenada.
The following specialties are needed:
- Critical Care Nurses
- Accident and Emergency Nurses
- Public Health Nurses
- General Nurses
QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES
(i) The Applicant should meet the regulatory requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana,
(ii) Applicants should have at least five (5) years working experience.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Each Applicant is required to provide the following:
- Original two (2) Photocopies of nursing academic certificate
- Original two (2) Photocopies of certificate of good standing with the Nursing and Midwifery Council
- Current and Previous appointment
- Original two (2) Photocopies of certificate of criminal record from the Criminal Investigation Department of the Ghana Police Service covering the immediate past six (6) months,
- Original two (2) Photocopies of certificate of change of name where applicable,
- Original two (2) Photocopies immunization certificate,
- Original two (2) Photocopies of the Birth Certificate,
- Two (2) copies of an up-to-date curriculum vitae,
- Two (2) reference letters dated within the last six (6) months,
- An endorsed recent passport size photograph with white background,
- Biodata page of passport with two (2) years validity,
- Application Form,
- Any other relevant document.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Application starts from Friday, 24th October 2025 and ends on Tuesday, 28th October 2025. Applicants are to apply through the Ministry of Health’s Recruitment Portal, https://hr.moh.gov.gh or email : mohhrhd@moh.gov.gh
Candidates are required to submit all the necessary documents including certified copies of qualifications and professional registration on the day of the scheduled interview. Unsuitable applications will not be acknowledged

Scotland NHS Recruiting International Nurses
NHS Highland has announced that they are seeking experienced international nurses for a permanent position at Caithness General Hospital in Wick.
The role is within the Rosebank Ward, which is described as a busy acute admission ward featuring a three-bedded high dependency unit. This position is specifically for international nurses who are required to sit and pass their OSCE exam to obtain full NMC registration. Note that this post is not open to candidates who already hold full NMC registration.
The NHS Highland as part of this exciting opportunity we will support you through a fully funded in-house, person-centred education programme to prepare for your NMC Test of Competence Part 2 (OSCE) exam and obtain your full UK NMC registration. A preparatory OSCE Education Programme will be delivered by the North of Scotland International Recruitment team in collaboration with NHS Highland.
Candidates are required to have successfully undertaken the Test of Competence Part 1 (CBT) and must meet the necessary English language requirements for their NMC application. It was also specified that applicants must have twelve months of validity remaining on both of these certificates.
Successful candidates will begin as a Band 4 Pre-Registration (International) Nurse and will then progress to a Band 5 Registered Nurse upon obtaining their registration. Interested candidates can apply here.

Ministry of Health Postpones Media Engagement on Unpaid Salaries
The Ministry of Health has postponed its planned Media Engagement on “Unpaid Salaries and Other Related Human Resource Issues.” The session, which was originally scheduled for Wednesday, 8th October 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Ministry of Health, Ridge, will no longer take place as planned.
In a notice shared on social media, the Ministry’s Public Relations Unit informed all media houses and stakeholders that the engagement has been postponed until further notice. The Ministry added that a new date will be communicated in due course and sincerely regrets any inconvenience the change may cause.
