NURSES AND MIDWIVES DECLARE TOTAL STRIKE EFFECTIVE 21ST SEPTEMBER 2020
Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) together with its allied Associations, has declared a total strike across the country starting 21st September 2020 if the government fails to address concerns raised by the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association in the ongoing negotiation on conditions of service.
The GRNMA and its allied associations have been on a series of negotiations over the Condition of Service for its members. According to the GRNMA, various meetings with the employer have been unsuccessful as the government is not willing to yield to the demands of its members which they rightfully deserve.
In a press statement, The GRNMA and its allied Associations, Physician Assistants and Certified Registered Anaesthetists have concluded that:
- The proposal of the Employer cannot serve the economic interest of all Nurses, Midwives, PAs, and CRAs.
- The Employer is hereby notified that Nurses, Midwives, Physician Assistants, and Certified Registered Anaesthetists will withdraw their services from Monday, 21st September 2020 if they fail to address the concerns raised by the GRNMA team
- All Nurses, Midwives, Physician Assistants, and Certified Registered Anaesthetists in All public institutions are directed to withdraw their services from 8:00 am on Monday, 21st September 2020.
- The general public is advised to seek medical attention from other health facilities.

GRNMA Health Fund Awards GHS 120,000 in Medical Aid to Two Members
As part of its ongoing drive for 100 percent employer-funded medical coverage for every nurse and midwife, the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has disbursed a total of GHS 120,000 to two members in the Greater Accra Region diagnosed with critical illnesses.
Each beneficiary received GHS 60,000 to support the cost of treatment:
1. Ms Juliana ShaSha Anang – LEKMA District
2. Madam Francisca Peace Adzre – Ashaiman District
The cheques were presented in the presence of the Heads of Nursing and Midwifery Services for LEKMA Polyclinic and Ashaiman Municipal Hospital, alongside several regional and district executives and staff.
Expressing their appreciation, the recipients praised the administration led by GRNMA President Mrs Perpetual Ofori Ampofo for instituting such crucial welfare initiatives and urged all nurses and midwives to support the Association’s broader efforts to enhance the profession’s conditions nationwide.

AFFORDABLE LANDS FOR MEMBERS: GRNMA COMMENCES HEADQUARTERS LAND PROJECT
The Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA) has commenced a project called the HEADQUARTERS LAND PROJECT. This project aims at providing opportunities for members to own affordable lands in the Greater Accra region at Bawaleshie-Dodowa.
The lands are available for outright purchase or payment in installments.

DISCLAIMER: GRNMA EMERGENCY LOANS
The attention of the leadership of Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association, (GRNMA) has been drawn to the acts of some unscrupulous person(s) who are calling GRNMA members who have applied for the GRNMA Loans to send some monies to them so that their loan applications can be fast-tracked.
The GRNMA dissociates itself from such acts and asks all members to disregard any calls since they are scammers who are out to dupe vulnerable nurses and midwives.
The application process for the GRNMA Loans is clear and does not require the payment of any money to any person.
Members of the Association are therefore advised to desist from engaging such persons in any conversation and report the incident to their district and regional leaders.
